The Jantzen Audio Silver Z-Cap is a meticulously crafted film/foil capacitor designed to elevate the performance of high-end passive speakers and tube/power amplifiers. The capacitor features a metalized polypropylene double-layer construction, known as "Super MKP Capacitor," that consists of bifilar extended metalized foil in a double foil lane configuration. This specialized construction requires four times the foil of standard capacitors and allows two capacitors to be housed in a single unit, operating in series. With its pure silver leads, the Silver Z-Cap offers a unique sonic quality slightly different from copper leads, making it highly recommended for tweeters and mid-range applications. The 12 µF capacitance comes with a remarkable ±2% tolerance, ensuring accurate performance. The capacitor's dielectric absorption factor is less than 0.5% at 20°C, and it possesses an extremely low equivalent series resistance (ESR) and self-inductance of 0 nH, which contribute to its premium audio clarity. Its robust construction includes a non-inductive zinc thermally sprayed extended film with a silver plastic tape wrapped black resin, all sealed within an anodized aluminum tube.
